Privacy policy
Short version: this is a static publication. We do not ask you for personal information, we do not sell anything directly, and we do not operate accounts, newsletters or comment sections. The only data collected is anonymous usage analytics.
Who we are
This site is published as Compare Mad Honey (comparemadhoney.com) by the Honey Hunter Association, which is the data controller for the limited information described below. The Association holds a commercial contract with Magaranger, one of the brands scored on this site — see the about page. That relationship does not involve sharing any data about you.
We are an online publication and do not operate a public postal address. Every privacy question — including access, correction, deletion and objection requests — goes to editor@comparemadhoney.com, which is monitored and answered. If you need a postal address in order to make a formal data-protection request or to contact a supervisory authority, email us and we will provide one.
What we collect
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to count page views, referrers, approximate country and device type, and clicks on outbound links. IP addresses are anonymised by GA4 before storage. We do not use this data to identify individuals.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard request logs (IP, timestamp, user agent) for security and abuse prevention, typically retained for a short period by that provider.
- Email. If you write to us, we keep the message so we can reply and so we can document corrections. Nothing more.
We do not collect names, addresses, payment details or health information, because we have nothing to collect them with. We do not run advertising networks on this site.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets first-party cookies to distinguish sessions. The site itself stores one item in your browser’s local storage — your light/dark theme preference — which never leaves your device. If you block cookies, everything on this site still works.
Third parties
- Google Analytics (analytics). Google privacy policy.
- Google Fonts (typography), served from Google’s CDN, which receives your IP as part of the request.
- Our hosting provider, which serves the pages.
When you click through to a brand’s store, you leave this site and that company’s privacy policy applies. We do not pass any information about you to them beyond the standard referrer and campaign tag in the link.
Your rights
Under the UK/EU GDPR you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data we hold about you, and may object to processing or lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. Under the CCPA/CPRA, California residents have equivalent rights and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in the CCPA. To exercise any right, email editor@comparemadhoney.com.
Retention
Analytics data is retained on Google’s default schedule. Correspondence is kept as long as needed to handle the matter and to keep a record of any published correction.
Children
This site covers a product for adults only and is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
Material changes to this policy will be posted here with an updated date.
